Décédé à 76 ans^{électronique}Le Festival de Cannes s'achève le samedi 27 mai avec des projections de longs métragesécole primaire, Peter Sohn, hors compétition. Après 11 journées bien remplies sur la Croisette, le jury, présidé par l'ancien lauréat Ruben Östlund, doit décerner la Palme d'Or à l'un des 21 cinéastes de la compétition.

Ces dates ne tiennent pas compte des années 1948, 1950, 1968 et 2020, lorsque le festival n'a pas eu lieu ou pas entièrement tenu.

Une femme a une chance sur trois de remporter la Palme d'or

Différent des années précédentes, le nombre de réalisatrices sélectionnées dans cette compétition officielle est sans précédent. Sur les 21 cinéastes, sept étaient des femmes, représentant un tiers de la sélection. Un record que même la parité a encore du chemin à faire.

La sélection 2023 présente des films mettant en scène de grands noms. Tunisie Kaouther Ben Hania (les filles d'olfa) attendezRamata-Toulaye Sy, Sénégal(premier long métrage) représentant le continent africain. Le cinéma asiatique a deux représentations, dontdu Japonais Hirokazu Kore-eda, Régisseur des Films Kaibutsu, a remporté la Palme d'Or en 2018affaires domestiques, et le documentaire du chinois Wang Bing. Et enfin la partie sud-américaine, avec un réalisateur brésilien produisant au Royaume-UniKarim Aïnouz nominé pour le film 'The Queen's Game'.
